The teams advancing to the Final Conference for the Japan Problem of the ITU AI/ML in 5G Challenge, organized by AI for Good, were announced during the Zoom Webinar held on November 29.

The ITU AI/ML in 5G Challenge is a global initiative where companies and research organizations worldwide present real-world challenges related to applying artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to communication networks, including 5G and 6G. Participants, consisting of students and professionals from over 100 countries, collaborate to tackle these challenges.
From Japan, KDDI Research Inc. provided a challenge and co-organized the round in collaboration with the Special Interest Group on Cross-Disciplinary Research for Super-Intelligent Networking (RISING) of the IEICE Communications Society.
For 2024, the Japan Problem focused on the topic “Estimation of Site-specific Radio Propagation Loss” and proceeded according to the following schedule. The award winners were announced on November 29 at a co-hosted event with TTC, and the winning teams will present their proposals at the ITU Final Conference in December.
